HEIDELBERG PUBLIC SCHOOL

SCHOOL SONG

The murmuring trees enfold us'

the purple mountain belt

Stands sentinel between us

and the encroaching veld;

And just upon the sky-line,

not very far away,

The stately Suikerbos holds

everything in sway.

We left our homes behind us,

we came from far and near;

From koppie, kloof and

homestead, the School

has bought us here.

In fellowship She binds us,

in hope She sends us forth.

Her spirit shall uphold us

in days of peace or wrath.

To honour courage greatly,

be it in friend or foe;

To love the land which bore us

wherever we may go;

Uphold our School's dear honour

through all the years to be,

And by our lives

secure Her immortality.
